![]() Midfielder/Defender Kristi Abbate Although Kristi might be an 8th grader at the Northport Middle School, where she was named to the National Honors Society and Principal's List, she more than holds her own playing for Long Island against much older and bigger opponents. Kristi also plays for the Albertson Fury '93 of the Long Island Junior Soccer League, the Eastern New York Olympic Development Program team, the Regional team and the Under-15 National Team. The sky appears to be the limit for Kristi. She states that her "dream is to play in the 2010 Under-17 World Cup, for a top college program and eventually with the U.S. Women's National Team." "In my view the best player in the country in her age group," commented Long Island Fury head coach Paul Riley. "Amazing balance, superb ability to beat players, and an insatiable appetite for the game. Very quick, silky skills and brilliant of the ball. At only 13, she is good enough to play in this league. She is a star in the making"
