![]() Goalkeeper Brittany Anghel The East Meadow resident made 17 saves in 220 minutes of play for the Long Island Fury in 2009 and 42 saves in 705 minutes for a 0.51 goals against average in 2010, making All-WPSL First Team. She saw 525 minutes of action in 2011 and made 31 savee. She played youth soccer for the Albertson Fury 92 Premier, the Eastern New York Olympic Development Program team and the Region 1 squad. Anghel played school soccer for St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay as well as East Meadow High School. Anghel's sensational play in goal often kept the St. Dom's Bayhawks in the game against much larger high schools. Awards include the 2005 Nassau County Girls Soccer Coaches Association All Class AA, NSCHSAA All League in 2007 and 2008, National Honor Society, New York Science Honor Society and the National Music Honor Society. In the fall, she plays for Syracuse University.. She describes her best moment on a soccer field as "stopping two penalty kicks in a shootout to win the Disney tournament in January 2009 with Albertson Fury 92 Premier." "Brittany is a very good goalkeeper with safe hands, terrific reflexes and ability to make the big save," commented Long Island Fury Director of Football Paul Riley. Anghel loves to travel. She held her first passport when she was just two months old and has been to Romania several times, Costa Rica twice, plus Mexico, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Jamaica, Haiti and all over the United States including Hawaii and Alaska.
