![]() Midfielder/Defender Domenica Hodak Domenica has swiftly climbed up the youth soccer ladder from club to state to regional team. She has competed for the Albertson Fury 90 of the Long Island Junior Soccer League for the past four years, the Eastern New York Olympic Development Program team for the last six years and the Region 1 squad for the past three years. With Albertson Fury 90, she is a three-time State Cup champion. She's a senior at Sayville High School and led the Golden Flashes to the Suffolk County championship game in November 2007. Domenica was honored as the 2007 Suffolk County Small School Player of the Year, 2007 All-Long Island, 2006 League V Most Valuable Player, two times All-State and as MVP for Sayville High School in both 2006 and 2007. She is slated to begin playing for the University of Maryland in September 2009. "Min has a fantastic engine, is smooth on the ball and is one of the best ball winners I have ever coached. Great competitor with energy to spare. She will be a Terrapin come September of 2009 and I believe she will be a revelation in the Atlantic Coast Conference," commented Long Island Fury head coach Paul Riley. Domenica says that her best moment on a soccer field comes "when my team comes from behind and really battles to win a game." Her favorite athlete is Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United and Portugal, whose father named his baby son after Ronald Reagan. Domenica's favorite sports team, though, is the New York Giants, who battled back to win the Super Bowl.
