Fury Tie at NYAC, 2-2, In Last Regular Season Game as the Playoffs Loom
The Long Island Fury tied the New York Athletic Club, 2-2, on July 10at Travers Island. The Fury finishes the regular season at 7-2-1 while NYAC is 4-4-1. Lorraine Quinn of Farmingdale (pictured below dribbling) scored both goals for the Fury while Jevne Reid scored both goals for NYAC.

The Fury got on the board first with a Quinn goal in the 19th minute after a through-ball from Karin Simonian of Westbury. NYAC went ahead with the two goals by Reid, in the 70th and 73rd minutes. The Fury tied it up in the 81st minute on a Quinn header off an assist by Kelly Henderson of Baldwin.

“We are still not producing offensively,” lamented Fury head coach Michael Demakis. “We are not putting teams away and we are giving them hope that they can get a result.”

“I was not pleased with the way our usually excellent defense played tonight,” Coach Demakis continued. “We gave NYAC way too many opportunities for free looks at our goal. But I was pleased with goalkeeper Jackie Gates, who was solid in net.”

The Smithtown resident made eight saves in goal. The Fury awaits the results of the other regular season matches this weekend to determine their playoff pairing.
