June 20, 2009, Enfield, Connecticut-Westbury's Karin Simonian scored the only goal of the game off an assist from Vicki DiMartino of Massapequa Park in the 30th minute as the Long Island Fury defeated the New England Mutiny, 1-0 tonight in Connecticut. The Fury stay undefeated at 5-0-0 while the Mutiny are now 1-4-0. Fury keeper Jillian Mastroianni, playing in her home state, made five saves for the shut out, including a brilliant one with 20 minutes left. "Our very young midfield of Deanna Murino, Cari Roccaro and Karin Simonian, average age of 15, was the difference." "All our games this year have been very close," Coach Riley concluded. The next game is Wednesday night, June 24 at Adelphi University's Competition Field in Garden City. At 6 pm, the Fury play the 2-3-1 Millburn Magic while their men's team, the 2-0-1 Long Island Academy, entertain the 0-3-0 Morris County Colonials at 8 pm.
