Nobody's Perfect! Fury Tie, 2-2, at Lancaster

June 30, 2009, Landisville, Pennsylvania-Behind two goals by leading scorer Vicki DiMartino, the Long Island Fury tied the Lancaster Inferno, 2-2, in a Women's Premier Soccer League game in Pennsylvania Dutch Country tonight. The Fury's perfect season is over and their record now stands at a superb 7-0-1 while the Inferno is 5-1-2.

DiMartino, the 17-year-old phenom from Massapequa Park, scored in the 12th minute off an assist from Cody Newman of Bellerose, then again in the 32nd minute off an assist by Madison Haller of South Salem, New York.

"We dominated the game but did not put it away," Long Island head coach Paul Riley commented. "We lost our way but we'll take the point for a tie."

The Inferno stormed back to tie the match 2-2 in the second half. Fury keeper Brittany Anghel of East Meadow made eight saves.

"She played very well. If it was not for a great save by her with five minutes left, we would have lost," Coach Riley continued.

The Fury finish the regular season playing at the 6-1-0 Adirondack Lynx on July 8, then host the 2-5-1 SoccerPlus Connecticut Reds on July 11, 6:00 pm at Adelphi University's Competition Field.
