Midfielder Amanda Rooney

Amanda was all of 13 years old when she made her Long Island Fury debut in 2009.

The Hicksville resident studies at Hicksville Junior High School and plays for Hicksville High School's varsity soccer team, Albertson Elite Fury '94, Eastern New York's Olympic Development Program and the Region 1 team.

Amanda helped lead Elite Fury '94 to the championships of the 2007 Discovery Cup, 2008 Region 1 Colonial Premier League, 2008 Potomac Memorial Day Tournament and the 2008 NEWSS (National Elite Women's Soccer Showcase).

"Amanda is one of the most talented young soccer players I have ever coached and trained," commented Fury head coach Michael Demakis. "She made her playing debut for the Long Island Fury at the age of 13 alongside some of the top club and college players in the country which has helped her grow, mature and develop into a very gifted and talented soccer player."

"She has unbelievable technical and tactical abilities at such a young age which allows her to be able to compete in the WPSL for the Long Island Fury.  She is the classic 'Playmaker' on the field," continued Coach Demakis. "Amanda has an amazingly bright future ahead of her and I am looking forward to watching her keep developing into the player I know she will eventually become."

In school, Amanda is in the Leaders/Honors Club and received the Social Studies Achievement Award and the District Reflections Award.

Her best moment on a soccer field was "the first time I rainbowed an opposing player in a game and it worked!"
