Defender Erica Sousa
"Erica is one of the brilliant new young players joining the Long Island Fury this season,” commented head coach Michael Demakis. “She possesses a dominating presence in the back. Strong, great field awareness, a great decision maker with the ball, with tremendous foot skills which allows her to attack out of the back and makes her a very dangerous player coming forward. Erica will bring a lot of energy and skill to the Fury."
Erica, a student at H. Frank Carey High School, has played varsity soccer there since the 8th grade in 2007. She was honored as Nassau County All Class in 2007 and 2009 plus All Conference in 2008 and named as the Most Outstanding Player on the varsity team for three consecutive years. She also competes for Carey’s Track and Field Team, being honored as All Conference last year. She stands 5’4” but can clear 4’8” in the high jump.
In club soccer, Erica plays for the Albertson Elite Fury, Eastern New York and Region 1 Olympic Development Program teams plus went to National Camp in the summer of 2008.
