Vicki DiMartino
Forward Vicki DiMartino

In 2009, the Massapequa Park resident scored 14 goals and had five assists, was named Offensive MVP of nine matches, BigAppleSoccer.com Player of the Week twice and Eastern Conference Co-Player of the Year in helping lead the Fury to the 2009 WPSL national championship.

The scrappy forward became the first U.S. player to score in five consecutive matches at a Women’s Under 17 World Cup in New Zealand, and her six goals won the Silver Ball as the second-best scorer in the tournament. In the group play, DiMartino scored against Japan, Paraguay and then bagged a wonderful goal in the USA’s crucial 1-1 tie with France that qualified the team for the quarterfinals, where she scored against South Korea. She also scored the equalizing goal in the USA’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Germany in the semifinals while coming close to getting a goal or two in the championship final against North Korea. DiMartino’s work rate on the forward line and non-stop effort to break through opponents defenses made her one of the top strikers at the first Women’s Under 17 World Cup and hence one of the top forwards in the world for her age group.

Not surprisingly, DiMartino says that scoring five goals in five consecutive World Cup games, which no American player has ever come close to doing, was her best moment ever on a soccer field.

DiMartino also plays for the Long Island Junior Soccer League's Albertson Fury '90, currently ranked fourth in the nation. She has graduated to the U.S. Under 20 National Team and will be attending Boston College this fall.

"Vicki is one of the best natural finishers in the country. She is deadly in front of the net, has two great feet and the desire to score goals that separates her from most other young forwards," commented Long Island Fury Director of Football Paul Riley. "She has really developed into a fantastic player and she is a local hero here on Long Island and many of our young Furyites really look up to her."
