After Defeating NYAC, 6-0, Fury Meets Adirondack Lynx For First Place Tonight (July 8, 2006, Albertson, NY)-After defeating the 2-2-1 New York Athletic Club, 6-0, on July 6 at Tully Park in New Hyde Park, the 5-0-1 Long Island Fury play at the Clifton Commons in Clifton Park, New York tonight against the 6-2-0 Adirondack Lynx. This match is for first place in the Women's Premier Soccer League's North Division. Against NYAC, midfielder Rebecca Moros of Larchmont scored a hat trick with goals in the 41st, 58th and 72nd minutes. Midfielder Kelly Henderson of Baldwin opened the scoring when she found the net in the 11th minute. Substitute Alaina Beyar of Staten Island came on the field and the 15-year-old forward quickly scored in the 76th and 84th minutes. "I thought that in the second half we were magnificent," commented Fury head coach Paul Riley. "Rebecca Moros was the best player on the field. Rebecca, Kelly Henderson and Shannon Donovan were magnificent in midfield." Goalkeeper Emily Wachsberger from East Meadow made four saves in posting the shutout. Incredibly, the Fury has never given up a goal in their relatively short history of 630 minutes in active play. That streak goes on the line tonight against the potent offense of the Lynx which is averaging 2.3 goals
