Long Island Fury Preparing for Two Home Matches at Hofstra This Weekend The Fury defense, backed up by goalkeeper Becky Wachsberger of East Meadow, have not given up a goal yet. The Fury are 2-0-0 and have important home clashes this weekend. This Friday night, June 16, 7:30 pm at Hofstra Soccer Stadium, the Fury take on the 1-2-0 Bay State Select. Their hosting of opponents from Massachusetts continues with a Sunday night, June 18 encounter with the 2-0-1 Boston-North Aztecs, 7:30 pm at Hofstra Soccer Stadium. The Fury have been led so far this season by forward and Ireland National Team player Marie Curtin, with a hat trick in the first match, and the defensive play of Sue Weber of East Islip plus dynamic play from Lorraine Quinn of Farmingdale in midfield. "I'm delighted so far with our progress. We are starting to get to know each others' strengths, which is vitally important for our chemistry," commented Fury head coach Paul Riley. "Beating New England was another step forward for our young team and we have two home games in front of us which can give us a massive lift towards making the playoffs." "Weber has been magic for us so far and she brings so much to the table. Two clean sheets have probably been the key to our early successes," the coach continued, "We have a really good balance of youth, experience and players that have played at a high level." The Long Island Fury is the pinnacle of the Fury girls premier system, the only top-to-bottom premier club on the island. From Under 7 to Under 18, girls proudly wear the Fury uniform and now they have a top level women’s team to support, follow and play on.
