Fury Ties New England Mutiny, 1-1, in Massachusetts June 16, 2007-The national champion Long Island Fury went to Massachusetts and tied the New England Mutiny, 1-1. Nicole Choffel from Queens scored her first-ever goal for the Fury on a 35-yard shot in the 35th minute after a poor Mutiny clearance. New England responded with a goal off a 45-yard free kick in the 70th minute. Fury keeper Laura Elfers of Deer Park made seven saves. "We had some very good performances tonight, particularly from midfielder Kelly Henderson plus defenders Alyssa Pember and Sue Weber," commented Fury head coach Paul Riley. The Fury's record is now 3-1-2 while the Mutiny's record is 3-0-1. The next home match for the Fury is on Friday night, June 22 vs. the 1-2-0 Adirondack Lynx at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale. Kick-off will be at 7:30 pm. Their men's team, the Long Island Academy, return home for a Sunday night, June 24 encounter with 0-4-0 Real Shore. The match kicks off at 7:30 pm at Mitchel Athletic Complex.
