Defender Shannon Donovan
SDonovanDonovan was named All-County, All-Conference and All-League while playing varsity soccer for five years at Half Hollow Hills High School East. She also competed as a midfielder and defender for the HBC Fury of the Long Island Junior Soccer League for nine years, winning six State Cup titles and three Regional championships on a squad that was ranked number one in the nation. HBC was coached by Paul Riley, the head coach of the Long Island Fury.

"Shannon is the engine room of the team and does the work of three players," Coach Riley commented. "Excellent vision and she never gives the ball away. Brilliant all-around player and the model of consistency. Will be one of the first names on the line-up every week."

The Melville resident also played six years for the Eastern New York Olympic Development Program.

At the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, she was named Southern Conference Freshman of the Year in 2003 and First Team All-Conference in 2004 and 2005. Two years ago, she was selected tournament MVP at the UNCG adidas Women’s Soccer Classic and named All-State by the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Directors Association.
